One download for every plan. Everyone starts in Watch: the Safety Scan and alerts, no licence key, and it sends no orders on its own. Paid plans use the same files: paste the key from your purchase, and once the Learn report is accepted you can switch on Protect, which attempts to close a position left without a stop.

What the install asks of you, before you start

StopWarden installs from this zip with one PowerShell command, then one compile (F5) in NinjaTrader. The NinjaTrader settings it needs stay yours to tick. Two things in that command deserve a plain explanation first.

An Administrator PowerShell
The script puts StopWarden in Program Files and copies its AddOn into NinjaTrader’s folder, which needs administrator rights. It asks before it copies the AddOn. Add -DryRun to the command to see every action first; that run changes nothing.
-ExecutionPolicy Bypass
Lets that one PowerShell window run the install script from the zip. It does not change your PC’s policy; the next PowerShell window you open is back to your normal rules.

A one-click installer is in testing and will replace the zip when it ships.

  1. Check the file

    In Protect, its paid mode, StopWarden can close positions and sign in to NinjaTrader for you, so make sure the zip is exactly the one published here. Open PowerShell in your Downloads folder and run

    The hash must match the one shown here, character for character. If it does not, delete the file and email support@stopwarden.com. Then unblock it, so Windows does not flag every file inside as downloaded from the internet:

    Unblock-File .\stopwarden-1.1.1.zip

  2. Install

    Extract the zip to a folder, for example C:\StopWarden-1.1.1. Right-click Windows PowerShell > Run as administrator, go to that folder and run

    powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File .\install\install.ps1

    Answer y when it asks to copy the AddOn into NinjaTrader.

  3. Compile once in NinjaTrader

    Open NinjaTrader and press F5 once in the NinjaScript Editor, so NinjaTrader compiles the AddOn. You only do this after an install or an update.

  4. Start in Watch, on Sim101

    In the Control Center, open New > StopWarden. Pick your account and strategy and press Start. You are in Watch: alerts only. Requirements

  • Windows 10 or 11, 64-bit. A VPS works as long as the desktop stays signed in and unlocked.
  • NinjaTrader 8 Desktop, 8.1.x, installed and licensed by you (Help > About shows the version).
  • Python 3.10 or newer. The installer checks and prints the exact install command if it is missing.
  • A live market-data connection, if you will use Protect. Protect will not enable your strategy while a configured connection is Simulated or Playback, even when you test on Sim101, NinjaTrader’s practice account, and autopilot doctor reports it as a failure. Watch and the Safety Scan only read NinjaTrader’s logs.
  • NinjaTrader settings: Tools > Options > Strategies > NinjaScript, tick both Cancel entry orders when a strategy is disabled and Cancel exit orders when a strategy is disabled; and Tools > Options > Automated trading interface, tick AT Interface.
  • One strategy row on one account in the Control Center Strategies tab, saved in your workspace. This version runs one strategy on one account per PC; support for more is being built.

What the install does not do

  • It does not change your strategy’s code or your NinjaTrader settings. The settings above stay yours to tick.
  • It never stores a password unless you choose the username/password sign-in, and then only in Windows Credential Manager on your PC.
  • It sends no trading data to us. Alerts go only to the Telegram chat or Discord webhook you set up. Licence checks send your licence key, a hashed machine id and the StopWarden version, and every install asks our server once a day whether a newer version exists.
  • Uninstall from an Administrator PowerShell with powershell -NoProfile -ExecutionPolicy Bypass -File "$env:ProgramFiles\StopWarden\uninstall.ps1". It removes the scheduled tasks, the AddOn and the program files; the FAQ has the details.
